Be cunning, play smart, and pickup craps the proper way!

Dice and dice games goes all the way back to the Middle Eastern Crusades, but modern craps is approximately a century old. Modern craps come about from the 12th Century English game referred to as Hazard. No one absolutely knows the origin of the game, but Hazard is said to have been discovered by the Anglo, Sir William of Tyre, sometime in the twelfth century. It’s believed that Sir William’s horsemen bet on Hazard through a blockade on the citadel Hazarth in 1125 AD. The title Hazard was gotten from the castle’s name.

Early French settlers imported the game Hazard to Canada. In the 18th century, when driven away by the English, the French relocated south and settled in the south of Louisiana where they after a while became Cajuns. When they left Acadia, they took their favorite game, Hazard, with them. The Cajuns modernized the game and made it mathematically fair. It’s believed that the Cajuns altered the title to craps, which is acquired from the term for the non-winning throw of 2 in the game of Hazard, known as "crabs."

From Louisiana, the game moved to the Mississippi river boats and throughout the country. A great many think the dice maker John H. Winn as the founder of modern craps. In the early 1900s, Winn built the current craps layout. He appended the Do not Pass line so gamblers could wager on the dice to not win. At another time, he designed the spaces for Place wagers and added the Big 6, Big 8, and Hardways.
